We are honored to have been recently featured by Prosperity Now! The piece titled, “It Starts with Community: St. Louis College Kids is Helping Students Achieve their College Dreams,” discusses some of the ways we’ve strived for success for our young people and their families under the leadership of our Treasurer. More than just saving dollars, we are also a program that seeks to engage and empower communities through financial education and partnering with those in our community.
“In the City of St. Louis, the St. Louis College Kids CSA program is on a mission to strengthen communities, develop a college-going culture, provide financial support for families and give children a head start to save for college. But perhaps the most interesting feature of the program is the commitment to community engagement and a hands-on approach that centers families and children. On February 6th, Treasurer Tishaura Jones released the 2020 ‘Report to the Community’ and noted that St. Louis had answered a call to action from the 2016 Ferguson Commission’s Report by ‘creating universal child development accounts.’ As College Kids has expanded, it has developed new and creative ways to bring people together and highlight the importance of community involvement.”
